At the behest of the ghost of Matthew Flinders a young would-be dishwasher sets out on a journey through the streets of the newly developed suburb of Docklands in search of the French navigator Nicolas Baudin. Along the way he meets other explorers as well as football champions, a real estate agent, a jeweller and more as he traces some of the murkiest repressed memories of Australian history back to a highly charged core of sex and power.
Encounters is the second book in the Streetwise Series following Three Thousand which is set in Melbourne’s CBD.
